This is a managerial role that plays a key part in planning, coordinating and optimising instructional design delivery and learning resource operations across Engineering Institute of Technology (EIT) and its associated entities.
This role leads the instructional design function, ensuring learning materials are delivered to a high standard, on time, and with clear visibility across the pipeline. It also oversees library resources and subscriptions, including vendor management, licensing, and usage optimisation.
Reporting to the Digital Learning Manager, this role requires working closely with academics, QA/QA and production teams. This role ensure alignment between academic intent and instructional outputs, while driving continuous improvement and innovation through data, feedback and emerging technologies.

Core Accountabilities:
Instructional Design Delivery & Oversight
- Own planning and delivery oversight of instructional design work across new courses, updates, and improvements.
- Allocate and prioritise work, track progress, manage deadlines, and maintain clear visibility of delivery status.
- Identify and escalate risks early, ensuring timelines remain achievable and dependencies are actively managed.
Standards, Templates & Release Readiness
- Define, maintain and enforce standards for learning materials, including templates, structure, presentation, naming conventions and version control.
- Ensure all instructional design outputs are complete, consistent, and ready for QA and production handover.
- Support smooth release processes by minimising rework and preventable errors.
- Develop and maintain training resources and guidance for academic writers and internal staff to support consistent, high-quality learning material development.
Library Resources & Subscription Management
- Manage and optimise library subscriptions and licensed learning resources across EIT, ECT and ECST.
- Lead vendor engagement, procurement support and licensing coordination, ensuring cost-effective and compliant access to resources.
- Monitor usage and relevance of resources, ensuring alignment with teaching and learning needs.
- Maintain guidance on sourcing, citing and reusing licensed materials, in collaboration with QA.
Insight, Reporting & Optimisation
- Analyse instructional design delivery, library usage, and workflow performance to inform decision-making.
- Provide regular reporting on progress, risks, resource value, and opportunities for improvement.
- Identify gaps, inefficiencies and opportunities to enhance content quality, tools, and processes.
Automation & Workflow Improvement
- Identify, prioritise and implement automation and AI opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency and scalability of instructional design workflows.
- Continuously refine processes to reduce manual effort, errors and turnaround time.
Skills and Experience:
Essential
- Experience leading instructional design delivery or learning content operations at scale
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, timelines and dependencies
- Strong systems thinking, process discipline and attention to detail
- Experience working with LMS platforms and authoring tools
Desirable
- Experience managing library subscriptions or licensed learning resources
- Understanding of copyright and licensing in education or publishing
- Experience implementing automation or AI to improve content workflows
- Experience in change management
- Exposure to the Higher Education and/or VET sectors in Australia
